Department for Medical Ethics and History of Medicine

Our reference library can be used by students of all subjects, scientists, and anyone interested in the ethics and history of medicine.

Work facilities

The library has 10 workstations, 6 of which can be connected to a laptop.

Copying

Scanning and copying facilities are available (scanning free of charge, A4 copies at 5 cents) on the first floor of the institute.

Holdings

The library has a total collection of around 25,000 volumes (as of June 2014), including 48 current journals.  The monographs of the Academy of Ethics in Medicine (AEM) are integrated and marked with red call number labels. In cooperation with the AEM, the collection has focused on the field of “ethics in medicine” since 1998. The holdings up to the publication year 1998 are listed in an alphabetical and systematic card catalog. New acquisitions since 1998 are listed in the OPAC of the Göttingen University Catalog (GUK). All holdings are currently being cataloged retrospectively.
