The Information and Documentation Center for Ethics in Medicine (IDEM) is run by the Institute for Ethics and History of Medicine in cooperation with the Academy for Ethics in Medicine (AEM) and financed by the University Medical Center Göttingen.

The main task of IDEM is to develop and maintain the medical ethics literature database ETHMED.
ETHMED contains well over 20,000 data records and can be searched free of charge at idem.uni-goettingen.de/ueber-ethmed/. ETHMED can be searched simultaneously with other databases via the LIVIVO search portal for the life sciences – a product of ZB MED – Information Center for Life Sciences (www.LIVIVO.de) – and via the German Reference Center for Ethics in the Life Sciences (www.drze.de).
