Collectivity in Healthcare: The Ethics of Social Groups and Their Practical Relevance

Annual Conference Academy of Ethics in Medicine e.V., 26.-28.09.2019

In a series of plenary, parallel, and poster sessions, questions related to the topic of “Collectivity in Healthcare” were discussed from various theoretical perspectives. The scientific contributions addressed questions such as: What is a collective? What normative expectations are associated with different types of groups? How do collectives differ from one another? What ethical conflicts between individual and collective interests currently exist in medical care or in everyday clinical practice? What role should group solidarity play in activating citizens to participate in research, organ and tissue donation?
