Dr. Nitzan Rimon-Zarfaty ist Medizinsoziologin und seit März 2025 wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin in der Abteilung für Medizinische Ethik und Geschichte der Medizin an der Universitätsmedizin Göttingen sowie seit 2019 als Dozentin am Sapir Academic College tätig.
Sie hat an der Ben-Gurion-Universität und promoviert war von 2016 bis 2019 Postdoktorandin am Institut für Ethik und Geschichte der Medizin der Universitätsmedizin Göttingen. Ihre Forschung ("Timing Fertility - A comparative analysis of the relationship between time constructions and 'social freezing' in Germany and Israel") wurde hierbei durch das Marie-Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship (IF), das Horizont-2020-Forschungs- und Innovationsprogramm der Europäischen Kommission [Grant Agreement No. 749889] sowie das Postdoctoral Fellowship der Minerva Stiftung gefördert.
Rimon-Zarfatys Forschungsinteressen umfassen soziale, ethische und geschlechterbezogene Fragestellungen im Zusammenhang mit dem Beginn des Lebens, insbesondere Reproduktionstechnologien und Kryokonservierung (einschließlich Konzepten von Elternschaft, Verantwortung und Zeitlichkeit); sowie Fragen der Repräsentation und Entscheidungsfindung in Organisationen von Patient:innen und Menschen mit Behinderungen. Sie hat zu Themen wie Schwangerschaftsabbruch, dem moralischen Status von Embryonen, der Kryokonservierung von Eizellen (social freezing) und der Regulierung neuer Reproduktionstechnologien publiziert.
Derzeit ist sie Teammitglied des Forschungsprojekts: "The Legacy of Nazi Medicine in Contemporary Mental Health Ethics. Comparing three decades of debates in Germany and Israel, 1990-2020".
