Pursuing a Doctorate at the Institute
At the Department of Medical Ethics and History of Medicine, we supervise doctoral studies (Dr. med.) in the fields of ethics, culture, theory, and history of medicine, as well as doctoral studies in the medical human sciences (Dr. sc. hum.). Professor Schicktanz also serves as the primary advisor for doctoral dissertations in the humanities or social sciences at Georg-August University of Göttingen (Dr. phil./Dr. rer. pol./PhD)

- Clinical and non-clinical ethics counseling
Since argumentation in the humanities and social sciences relies heavily on linguistic precision, clarity of argument, and the confident use of English-language scholarly literature, excellent written communication skills and proficiency in English are prerequisites for admission to the doctoral program.
